Let's travel around those amazing cities, wine in hand, eating great food, in total Christmas spirit!
CRUISE STARTS! But first, we have a free morning and part of the afternoon to explore Cologne. We will do a city tour and then we have time to visit all 5 Christmas Markets of Cologne. They each have their own theme and are BEAUTIFUL! At 4pm we will embark on our festively decorated ship, with a Welcome Cocktail and our first dinner on the ship.
KOBLENZ. We reach Koblenz before breakfast and we can explore the romantic town in the northern Rhineland-Palatinate during the course of an extended sightseeing walk, allowing the Christmas flair of the old town to charm you. Then, our trip continues through the magical Middle Rhine Valley, past the legendary Lorelei rock. The enchanting landscape loses none of its charm in the winter months and this section of the Rhine is rightly considered one of the most beautiful! Plus, we have a Mulled Wine Party on board :-)
RUDESHEIM. Late in the afternoon, we will reach the wine town of Rüdesheim, which is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Upper Rhine Valley. Discover this picturesque little town during a relaxed stroll. We will visit the Music Cabinet Museum for a musical adventure with historical self-playing instruments.
SPEYER. Today we can take a tour of the old imperial residence town of Heidelberg, visit the castle, and have free time at the romantic Christmas market. After lunch, we will explore Speyer. Here, too, a beautiful Christmas market awaits. Spend a relaxed evening enjoying the contemplative advent.
STRASBOURG. The south of France welcomes us in the morning. Visit the surrounding area and fall under the spell of the wintery Alsace and Obernai, or the city of Freiburg. On this excursion, we drive through the romantic wintry landscapes of Alsace to discover the village of Gertwiller, famous for its Lebkuchen (Christmas gingerbreads). After an included glass of Glühwein, the tour continues to the magical little town of Obernai, where we stroll through the old quarter – delightfully decorated for Christmas. Then, we will explore Strasbourg where we can walk through the historic town center on the Grande Île (UNESCO), and the lovely “La Petite France” district, where you will see the Cathédrale de Nôtre Dame and its famous astronomical clock. The shops come to life with beautiful Christmas decor (as in teddy bears on porches :). As our trip nears its end, we will enjoy the exclusive Captain’s Gala Dinner onboard.
STRASBOURG. Now it is time to say “Adieu.” The group trip officially ends here and you can either get a train back to Frankfurt for your flight back home, or extend your stay.
We can help you choose the best option for you!
You can choose to extend your stay for extra nights in Strasbourg (France), Frankfurt (Germany), Munich (Germany), Basel (Switzerland) or Zurich (Switzerland).
